Get Your Dapper Day On!
It's that time of year again where the fashionable and most dapper congregate at Disneyland dressed in their Sunday (and Saturday) best and have a swingin' good time.
That's right, I'm talking about Dapper Day! This fabulous event happens twice a year at Disneyland, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris every Spring and Fall. I found out about this wonderful event a couple of years ago but started attending just last year. Besides flocking to the park to show off some fantastic duds, there is a FREE expo at the Disneyland Hotel where you can shop, take pictures and dance the afternoon away.

Fall 2016 Dapper Day
The official Dapper Day this year was April 23rd but many (including myself) start dressing up on the 22nd as well. I started planning my outfits for this Spring's Dapper Day last year but kept changing ideas for Disneybounds. I knew what I wanted to bound as for Sunday, but how about Saturday? Either way Sunday's idea was scratched and I had to start all over.
When I saw the new live-action Beauty and the Beast, I was a little bit skeptical since as a kid I was never really a big fan of the animated version. When I saw this version, I was hooked. The cast was amazing and the songs were beautiful, especially with Dan Stevens singing 'Evermore' (seriously this song will change your life, no lie).
For my Saturday Disneybound, I wanted to do a tribute to the movie and a wonderful video of a mariachi band performing 'Beauty and the Beast' with two dancers in traditional Mexican garb.

It was going to be my take on Belle's dress but also pay homage to my culture. When I visited the fabric store, I couldn't find the yellow lace I wanted to use for my Belle dress. The whole idea was nearly scrapped but I changed the design on the spot and went for the Beast instead.
Waiting here for evermore for the next Dapper Day...
I chose a royal blue fabric for the outfit (separates to be exact) as a wink to the animated Beast, gold lace for the blouse, and gold leaf trim and gold roses inspired by the new Beast's coat. For accessories roses were the main them with some pinned in my hair and an enchanted rose pin from Fan Flair. I also used my Louis XIV inspired earrings from The Pink Collar Life since they kind of fit into the era that the movie takes place (as well as the lyric "Ever just as sure, as the sun will rise").

Now for my Sunday bound I was going to do a 1920's bound but I'm not a fan of the era's silhouette on me. Don't get me wrong, I adore the 20's, but just not on me. This let me explore my options and went with my all-time favorite era: the 1940's. This led me to my Jasmine bound since I felt the 40's would be a fun silhouette for her character. The accessories were also fun to pick out for my bound: I went with a handmade faux-fur leopard stole and a gold leopard bracelet from The Pink Collar Life as a subtle homage to Rajah, gold gloves to bring out the gold trim in the dress, and the final touch, a genie lamp purse.
Aladdin not included.
Time Traveler or A LOT of filters? Hmmmm...
I always look forward to seeing what people come up with on Dapper Day, bounding or not bounding everyone looked fantastic. And yes, I am already planning Fall's outfit. I really can't wait! Till next time!
